Due to an ankle injury, Harry Kane might not play in England's World Cup match against the United States on Friday.

In the second half of the Three Lions' 6-2 victory over Iran in their World Cup opener on Monday, England's captain suffered a right ankle injury.

Kane was observed leaving the stadium with a limp and straps around his ankle after the game.

Before England's second game in Group B, Kane will have a scan to determine the severity of his injury, according to The Athletic.

Kane, however, will have little time to heal before England's second Group B game on Friday night if he sustains any damage.

If Kane is unable to play, Callum Wilson of Newcastle United, who took his place in the second half of England's victory over Iran, would be expected to step in.

Tuesday's matchup between England and Wales will be the group's final contest.

When asked about Kane’s injury after England’s win on Monday, Gareth Southgate said, "I think Harry’s fine."
"It looked like a bad tackle, but he carried on in the game." We took him off because we felt it was a moment in the game we could do that.’
