Following his standout performance in the Three Lions' 3-1 victory over Scotland, England midfielder Jude Bellingham has informed manager Gareth Southgate of where he would prefer to play.
England defeated Scotland in a friendly game on Tuesday at Hampden Park thanks to a goal from Bellingham.
Prior to scoring minutes later and capping the evening with a helper for Harry Kane, the Real Madrid star contributed to the preparation of Phil Foden's opening goal.
Southgate used Bellingham, who performs a more advanced role as the No. 10 for Real Madrid, in a comparable position against Scotland.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Bellingham told Channel 4: “I was not happy with how I played against Ukraine [on Saturday]. It was not anywhere near my best, and the motivation is always to get back to your best. I got somewhere close tonight.
“I know it depends on the system we play, and we’ve got so many amazing players to accommodate, and so the team always comes first. I really enjoyed playing in that [same] position today.”
