North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has reportedly banned Tottenham Hotspur games from being aired in the country.
According to The Sun (UK), the dictator refuses to broadcast matches featuring South Korean players—meaning Spurs captain Son Heung-min has been blacklisted from North Korean TV.
This also means Jong-Un, a known Manchester United fan, won’t be able to watch his favorite team when they take on Tottenham in a highly anticipated Premier League clash this Saturday.
North Korea previously blocked coverage of Wolverhampton Wanderers due to their South Korean forward, Hwang Hee-chan, and Brentford games were also cut because of defender Kim Ji-soo.
Even when matches are broadcast in North Korea, they are heavily censored—cut down to just 60 minutes and aired nearly four months after being played. They also precede official state news bulletins in a tightly controlled media environment.
This latest move further highlights Kim Jong-Un’s strict censorship policies, particularly concerning South Korea’s influence in global sports.
