Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has acknowledged that the team might have to enter the transfer market.
This comes after Thomas Partey and Mohammed Elneny, two midfielders on his team, suffered injuries.
Sambi Lokonga was selected by Arteta to play at the base of the midfield in Wednesday night's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
But the Spaniard has said they are short on the position and will look at options in the market.
Speaking after the game at the Emirates, Arteta said: “Obviously [Mo’s injury] has an impact because Thomas Partey is injured and we are a bit short in that position. We do have Albert Sambi Lokonga and Granit Xhaka who can play there."
“We are just looking at options in the market. As I said, the club has been super supportive to try to keep improving the squad and the team as much as we can, and if the right player is available and we can do it, we will try.”
