At least two African countries have written to FIFA requesting that their 2022 World Cup semifinals be replayed.

On Thursday, the Algerian Football Federation filed an appeal with FIFA about their match against Cameroon.

Algeria was defeated 2-1 at home by the Indomitable Lions, who clinched a place in Qatar.

The North Africans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the way the game was refereed by the Gambian referee, Bakary Gassama.

In a statement, the federation claimed, "Faf formally registers an appeal with Fifa against the scandalous arbitration which altered the result of the match."

"We are committed to using all legally available votes to have their rights restored and to rerun the match under conditions that ensure the arbitrator's impartiality and honesty."

Algeria is the second side to request a rematch, following Egypt's announcement that they would petition FIFA to have their match against Senegal replayed.

"We requested a replay because the match was played in an unusual atmosphere, and if we had lost in regular circumstances, we would have congratulated Senegal," Egyptian FA President Gamal Allam remarked.

"We will report what happened to the federation's disciplinary committee and wait for a response."

During the contest, a lot of things happened to us. " Attacks were made on our players. "We requested that the board of directors be on the match bench, but they refused."

Mohamed Salah received the brunt of the Senegalese fans' attacks on him, which also attempted to frighten the players.
