Thibaut Courtois, the goalkeeper for Real Madrid, made an open confession after his team eliminated Chelsea from the Champions League quarter-final stage on Tuesday night.

Last night at Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid defeated 3-2 to Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-final second leg tie.

Los Blancos, on the other hand, advanced for the Champions League semi-finals with a 5-4 aggregate victory after winning the first leg 3-1 at Stamford Bridge last week.

With an early goal, Mason Mount gave Thomas Tuchel's team optimism, and Antonio Rudiger made it 2-0 shortly after halftime.

Chelsea appeared to be on their way to victory when Timo Werner added a third with 15 minutes left, but Madrid replied with Rodrygo's goal, which came after a fantastic cross from Luka Modric.

The match entered extra-time, and Karim Benzema, who scored a hat-trick in the first leg, headed the decisive goal in the 96th minute to send Real Madrid through to the last-4 on a 5-4 aggregate win.

And Courtois, a former Chelsea shot-stopper, admitted that the Blues were the better team on Tuesday.

The Belgium international said at his post-match press conference: “We weren’t lucky, but it’s true that they were the better team.”
“We ultimately won the tie,” he added.
