Former Aston Villa captain Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Manchester United to challenge for the English Premier League (EPL) title this season.

Agbonlahor said he would take Manchester United’s best XI over Chelsea’s best XI, adding that Erik ten Hag’s side can comfortably finish in the top four positions on the Premier League table this term.

Man United are currently in the fifth position in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils are just four points behind second-placed Newcastle United with a game in hand.

They have some way to go if they are to catch leaders Arsenal, who are 11 points clear of the Old Trafford club.

“I think they [Man United] should be challenging higher than that [EPL top-four],” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
“I think Manchester United should challenge for the [EPL] title.
“I look at that team when everyone is fit—you've got David de Gea, Diogo Dalot has been in good form, you have Raphael Varane, and then you have Lisandro Martinez, who has just won a World Cup.
“We all know what Varane has done in his career: he's a top defender when he’s on." Luke Shaw is left-back. You have a midfield of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Christian Eriksen. That is creativity.
“You have got Marcus Rashford and Anthony, who are top, top wingers." Antony’s got a lot to learn, but he’ll get better. Then you have got Anthony Martial.
“Those 11 players there should be comfortably in the top four." "I would take their best XI over Chelsea’s best XI.”
