Henceforth, graduates that are intending to undergo the compulsory one year national service would need to tender their vaccination certificate before they can be allowed to participate in the scheme.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has barred unvaccinated corps members from its camps nationwide.
Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, NYSC DG, who announced this, said the measure will take effect from the next orientation camp, which is a few weeks from now.
The Director General of the scheme made this know today during the ongoing orientation exercise.
While addressing 2021 Batch “C” Stream Two Corps Members and Camp Officials, he said prospective corps members will now need to show evidence of vaccination from coronavirus before they would be allowed to register.
The DG said the scheme was trying to be careful not to allow the spread of the disease owing to the detection of the Omicron COVID variant in the country.
