Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has finally broken his silence about the viral incident at the 2025 Lagos Countdown concert, where he was seen kicking a fan who attempted to touch him during his performance.
A video of the moment that surfaced online sparked widespread backlash. Many social media users criticized the Grammy-winning artist, labeling him as the "most arrogant Nigerian artist."
Addressing the controversy via his Instagram story on Wednesday evening, Burna Boy revealed the reason behind his actions, attributing it to his struggle with PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). He also issued a stern warning to fans about invading his stage during performances.
In his words, “It was a free show. I was supposed to perform for 10 minutes but ended up staying almost an hour. Everyone knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me while I’m performing.
“I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. But don’t jump on my stage like that! I’ve got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year!”
For context, PTSD is a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, often leading to heightened stress or unexpected reactions.
Despite the incident, Burna Boy emphasized his appreciation for his fans and highlighted the energy of the Lagos concert.
