Nigerian rapper and fashion entrepreneur, Zlatan Ibile, has criticized the actions of some of his peers who publicly call out people for wearing fake designer items.
In a viral video, Zlatan expressed that it is wrong for fashion entrepreneurs to ridicule individuals who wear counterfeit products, especially when they can't afford the originals.
He emphasized that people who buy fake items should not be shamed, as they may eventually be able to afford the real deal. "Those who wear fake today can wear originals tomorrow," Zlatan said, urging for more empathy in the fashion community.
This comes after fashion entrepreneur Rahman Jago recently called out veteran singer Oritse Femi for wearing fake high-end fashion.
Similarly, earlier this year, Ashluxe founder Olayinka Ashogbon criticized singer Lyta for wearing counterfeit designs from his brand.
Zlatan’s message resonates with many, promoting kindness and understanding within the fashion industry.
