Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, recently shared his humorous strategy for handling online trolls and haters.
On his Instagram story on September 26, 2024, the former P-Square member revealed his unique approach to dealing with negativity on social media.
“Sometimes be nice to these trolls... listen to them,” Rudeboy wrote. “They will tell you their frustrations and their problems and why they are just angry with you for nothing. Then ask them to send their account details, give them hope, and when they send it... Insult their papa!! W... and block them.”
His tongue-in-cheek advice quickly sparked a variety of reactions from Instagram users, with many finding his approach relatable and amusing. One user commented, “He’s very correct 😂😂 me if I get chance I dey insult anybody wey yab me oh. No body has monopoly to trolling. Na so I finish one last week, he begin do emotional blackmail saying why I am insulting my followers, but na him first attack me oh 😂. If you are frustrated, channel ya frustration to the right source.”
However, not everyone agreed with Rudeboy’s playful tactic. Some criticized his approach, arguing that it was immature and not a constructive way to handle criticism. One user remarked, “Since he got married to a Gen Z, he’s been so loud,” while another said, “lol I was expecting wisdom, but I do mistake.”
The mixed reactions highlight the divide in opinions on how public figures should respond to online negativity. While some see Rudeboy’s humorous method as a way to lighten the mood and not take trolls too seriously, others believe that influencers should set a more positive example.
Regardless of the differing views, Rudeboy’s post certainly got people talking and once again showcased his knack for blending humor with social commentary.
