Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has openly expressed her desire to walk down the aisle again.
The 40-year-old, known for her candid take on life and relationships, revealed her thoughts on marriage during a recent podcast interview with British-Nigerian host Madame Joyce.
Despite past challenges, Toke described marriage as one of the most beautiful institutions. She explained, “People always think I hate men or that I’m a feminist who bashes men. I have been married before, and I see marriage as something incredibly special.” Using a lighthearted analogy, she compared the experience to living with siblings, filled with moments of joy and frustration: “At first, everything is fun—matching pajamas, shared moments. By the third day, it’s like, ‘Close my door. Who took my shoes? When are you leaving?’”
Reflecting on her previous marriage to businessman Maje Ayida, which began in 2014 and ended in 2017, Toke said, “There were days I’d rush home to share everything with my ex-husband, and days I’d think, ‘God, this must be hell.’ But despite that, I still cherish the idea of marriage and hope to remarry someday.”
Toke admitted that while marriage hasn’t happened for her yet, she’s not closing the door on the possibility. “Maybe it’s not God’s time yet. Whenever He is ready, I just hope I’m not wrinkled [laughs],” she said.
Recently, rumors swirled that Toke had secretly married her long-rumored partner, Farouk Umar. However, the actress swiftly debunked the speculation, clarifying that they are simply “besties” and that the supposed wedding was actually a thanksgiving event.
This revelation has sparked widespread interest, with fans keen to see what the future holds for one of Nollywood's most outspoken stars.
