This year, Wizkid broke a previous record in the Nigerian music sector.

Essence, his 2020–2021 hit, recently passed the 100 million views threshold on YouTube, making it Wizkid's fourth music video to do so.

Wizkid has two songs with over 100 million views on YouTube already, including Joro, Come Closer, Soco, and Essence, whereas many prominent Nigerian music stars have yet to reach that milestone.

This accomplishment comes shortly after Made in Lagos, his fourth studio album, sold more than 500,000 copies in the US.
