Fast-rising Afrobeats sensation Asake has admitted that he didn’t bother reading the terms and conditions of his contract before signing with Olamide’s YBNL Records.
Speaking in an interview over the weekend, the singer shared that his excitement over the opportunity overshadowed any concerns about the legal details.
When asked if he had carefully reviewed the contract to avoid issues similar to those faced by artists like Shallipopi, who recently voiced frustrations over unfair label agreements, Asake confessed, “I didn’t read the terms and conditions. I just signed. Anything that happens between us, I believe in Olamide.”
The singer expressed gratitude for the trust and opportunity Olamide extended to him, adding that he has no regrets about his decision. According to Asake, being picked by the YBNL boss was a dream come true and a moment of validation for his music career.
Asake’s revelation has sparked discussions on social media, with fans debating whether artists should prioritize excitement or ensure their contracts are thoroughly reviewed.
