On the quest of the incumbent President of Argentina Mauricio Macri to relentlessly fight against corruption in the country, the country erstwhile Vice President (VP) between 2011-2015 cum former economic minister (2009-2011), Amado Boudau has been sentence to seventy months in jail for the cases of corruption leveled on him when he was the economic minister of the country.

The charges which related to his illegal attempt to own a money printing company through a front business when he was the economic minister in the country, which the court of law passed judgement that the former VP is found guilty of the charges.

It should be noted that the former VP was in power during the administration of former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. The ex-president herself has been summoned to give evidence in another wide-ranging corruption investigation next week. Both say they are victims of political persecution by the current President, Mauricio Macri.

Boudou was accused of lifting a bankruptcy declaration against currency company Ciccone Calcográfica in return for an equity stake when he was economy minister in 2010, before becoming vice-president. The court in Buenos Aires found him guilty of committing passive bribery and conducting business "incompatible with public office". He has also been banned for life from holding public office, and is expected to appeal against the conviction.
