On Friday, U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills Jr., signed the Asset Return Agreement at the Federal Ministry of Justice headquarters in Abuja. Representing Nigeria, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, highlighted the critical role of the agreement in advancing the nation's anti-corruption efforts.
Fagbemi emphasized that this development reaffirms President Bola Tinubu's dedication to eliminating corruption and redirecting recovered funds toward projects that directly benefit Nigerians.
āThis agreement represents the successful repatriation of $52.88 million from the forfeiture of the Galactica assets linked to Diezani Alison-Madueke and her network. More importantly, it guarantees that the recovered funds will be utilized for developmental initiatives,ā Fagbemi stated.
