The head of defence in the Indian military service Gen Bipin Rawat has been confirmed dead after an IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDSboard had an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.



An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.

The Chief of Defence staff was going to Salur when the crash occurred all 12 out of the 13 onboard died immediately while one survive the crash.
