Jussie Smollett isn't getting off scot-free for the alleged attack that occurred earlier this year.

The Empire actor was indicted after police said that they believe Smollett staged the attack on himself. While the prosecutor's office dropped all the charges against Smollett, the City of Chicago hasn't been nearly as forgiving. After threatening legal action against Smollett last week, they are moving forward with their lawsuit against the actor.

The City Of Chicago has officially sued Jussie Smollett for allegedly filing a fake police report and lying to authorities. Chicago officials previously stated they would be moving forward with the suit against Smollett. The city filed a civil suit against Smollett earlier today, alleging that Smollett refused to reimburse the city for their $130K investigation into his alleged attack.

"The Law Department has filed a civil complaint against Mr. Smollett in the Circuit Court of Cook County that pursues the full measure of damages allowed under the false statements ordinance. This follows his refusal to reimburse the City of Chicago for the cost of police overtime spent investigating his false police report on January 29, 2019," reads a statement from the city of Chicago. The lawsuit against Smollett outlines the evidence that they have against the actor such as the text messages he sent to the Osundairo brothers and his claim that the attackers were white.
