The Ministry of Territorial Administration in Mali made the result of the Sunday's election known to the public on Thursday and the result shows that the incumbent President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita (IBK) won 41.
4 percent of the vote, while his close opponent Soumaila Cisse came second with 17.8 percent. With the election's result, it means that non of the aspirants can be declared winner since they all fail to secure over 50 per cent constitutional benchmark to win outrightly, which means, the incumbent President fails again to secure his second time in office by first round victory. It can be recalled that In 2013 Presidential election in the country, Keita and Cisse also went to a runoff vote where the former was late declared as the winner and fast forward to 2018 again both Cisce and Keita will also be contesting for the second round of voting which will hold on August 12.A candidate needed to obtain more than 50 percent of the votes to be declared winner at first round.
