The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument over a credit card. Authorities made the gruesome discovery last Friday during a welfare check at the family's residence on Hill Road in Landover, where Margaret Craig, 71, had already been deceased for over a week.

The Prince George's County Police Department stated that upon entering the basement, the officers immediately detected the smell of decomposition. Homicide detectives, conducting a preliminary investigation, have concluded that Candace Craig is the alleged perpetrator responsible for her mother's death, which occurred on May 23.
