S. President Donald Trump has announced a significant increase in tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, raising the levy to 50%.

The decision comes in response to Ontario, Canada, imposing a 25% tariff on electricity exported to the United States.

Taking to his Truth Social handle, Trump declared that the new tariff will take effect on Wednesday, March 12th, and warned of further economic consequences if Canada does not remove what he described as “outrageous” anti-American tariffs on U.S. dairy products.

Trump Slams Canada’s Tariff Policies

President Trump expressed frustration over Canada’s existing 250% to 390% tariffs on U.S. dairy products, calling them unfair to American farmers. He stated that if these tariffs are not immediately lifted, he will escalate economic pressure by imposing crippling tariffs on Canadian automobiles starting April 2nd.

“This will essentially shut down Canada’s automobile manufacturing industry,” Trump asserted, emphasizing that these vehicles could easily be produced within the United States instead.

Declaring a National Emergency on Electricity

Alongside the trade measures, Trump revealed plans to declare a National Emergency on Electricity in the affected regions. This move, he explained, would allow the U.S. to swiftly respond to what he called an “abusive threat” from Canada.

Trump Proposes Canada Join the U.S. as the 51st State

In a surprising twist, the President suggested that Canada should become the 51st state of the United States to eliminate economic and security conflicts altogether.

“We are subsidizing Canada to the tune of more than $200 billion per year for military protection. WHY??? This cannot continue,” Trump wrote.

He argued that integrating Canada into the United States would lead to substantial tax reductions for Canadians, enhanced national security, and the removal of all tariffs and trade barriers.

“A Stronger, Unified Nation”

Trump painted a vision of a borderless, united North America, where Canada becomes part of the world’s most powerful nation while still preserving its cultural identity, including its national anthem, O Canada.

“The artificial line of separation will finally disappear, making us safer and stronger than ever before!” Trump concluded.

What’s Next?

With these escalating trade tensions and a potential shift in geopolitical structure, all eyes are now on the Canadian government’s response. Will Canada bow to U.S. demands or retaliate with its own countermeasures?

Stay tuned for updates as this high-stakes economic and political battle unfolds!
