The United State of America government under the administration of President Donald Trump may waste billions of dollars on it secured border wall project between Mexico-US.
It is historically important to note that one of the manifestos of Trump during the electioneering campaign in 2016 is to secured the US from immigrants who cross to the country through the unfenced border wall between the US and Mexico, and he promised to do every possible thing to have a fenced border for the US.
And since the inception of his administration, Trump has been working relentlessly to ensure that he make his promise come to manifestation by allocating billions of dollars for the project the Department of Homeland Security.
Meanwhile, the government is at a grave risk of expending billions of dollars on the Mexico-US border wall, according to latest finding on Monday. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has concluded that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has not perfectly conducted a full analysis of the costs of building the wall.
And the department officials have also not properly documented their plans for building a portion of wall in the San Diego area. And because of this shortfalls, "DHS faces an increased risk that the Border Wall System Program (BWSP) will cost more than estimated, take longer than planned, or not fully perform as expected," GAO wrote.
The report also said DHS does not consider costs when deciding where to build. Which means it "does not have complete information to determine whether it is using its limited resources in the most cost-effective manner."
Meanwhile, in a rejoinder to the claim, Jim Crumpacker, a DHS official, wrote in response to the report the department disagrees it has not properly followed policy. And affirm that, the department has proper estimations of the program.
