The bodybuilding community mourns the loss of 26-year-old Michael Chidozie, a US-based Nigerian bodybuilder who tragically passed away after being shot multiple times by his wife, Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidozie.
The incident occurred on March 21 in their home in Houston, where an argument between the couple quickly escalated. In the midst of the heated dispute, Keaiirra reportedly drew a handgun and fired multiple shots at Michael, fatally wounding him.
Upon discovery by the authorities, Michael was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital with severe gunshot wounds, while his wife was found in a state of panic in a nearby parking lot, holding their two young children aged three and two.
Following the tragic event, the police detained Keaiirra and pressed charges against her for her involvement in the shooting. Meanwhile, the couple's children were placed under the care of a family member.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Michael's condition continued to deteriorate. He remained on life support but ultimately succumbed to complications arising from a devastating spinal injury, passing away 18 days later.
Keaiirra, aged 28, has since been released on bail, with her next court appearance scheduled for May 23. As the legal proceedings unfold, the community reflects on the heartbreaking loss of a talented and promising athlete, leaving many to grapple with the complexities of domestic violence and its far-reaching consequences.
