The incident occurred when a Toyota car collided with a commercial bus, a situation which was caused by overspeeding and wrongful overtaking by the drivers.

The Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kontagora, Mr Abdullahi Umar, confirmed this incident yesterday Wednesday. He said 16 persons were also injured in the accident which took place in the late hours of Monday in Kontagora Local Government Area of the state.

The victims were said to be travelling from Kontagora to Yauri in Kebbi State for the Eid-el-Kabir. celebration. The accident occurred despite several calls by safety officials that motorists should always drive with caution, especially during the festival periods.

Meanwhile the injured victims have been promptly rushed to Kontagora General Hospital for medical attention.
