In a heartbreaking turn of events, 22-year-old Florence Vandi, a resident of Viniklang in the Girei Local Government Area, has ended her life by consuming a poisonous substance.
Florence, who hailed from Michika LGA, took this drastic step in the midst of grieving her boyfriend's recent passing.
The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding Florence's tragic decision. According to Nguroje, Florence took her own life shortly after the death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface. Boniface had succumbed to a brief illness while undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Details from the investigation indicate that Florence, up until her untimely death, served as a Health Worker at the Girei Primary Health Care Centre. The tragedy has cast a somber mood over the community, prompting reflections on mental health and the impact of grief on individuals.
