In another development, the Vakola police have successfully apprehended four Nigerian individuals on charges of drug trafficking.

The arrest led to the seizure of 55 grams of cocaine with an estimated value of Rs. 56.24 lakhs.

The incident unfolded on January 10 when the police arrested Anthony Maduka Nyize (32) from Kadam Wadi, Santacruz East. Subsequent investigations revealed his accomplice, Sonia Devi, also known as Sairam (22), who was apprehended on January 14.

Upon further inquiry, it was discovered that the primary accused maintained frequent contact with several Nigerian individuals and often met them in a locality known as Aary colony. As a result, the police proceeded to arrest two more Nigerian individuals, identified as Azah Alias Aka Moren (33) and Sebi Raul, also known as Ekenna Godwin (27), both residing in Goregaon.

The investigation uncovered a network of individuals, including the main accused, engaged in the illicit sale of drugs. Consequently, a case under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act was filed against all four individuals. The police seized cocaine with a street value of Rs. 56,24,500 as part of their operation.

This incident underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related crimes. The successful apprehension of the accused individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of cocaine highlight the commitment of authorities in maintaining the safety and well-being of the community. The legal proceedings that follow will shed light on the extent of the alleged drug trafficking activities and further reinforce the importance of collaborative efforts to curb the menace of illicit substances within society.
