Stephen Ucheonye, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing the Aba Central constituency, marked his first year in office by commissioning refuse disposal bins as his constituency project.
The ceremony took place on Thursday, with the lawmaker emphasizing the strategic placement of the bins throughout the constituency to enhance waste management.
Ucheonye highlighted the importance of the project, noting that the bins would be positioned in key locations to address waste disposal issues in the area. He described the distribution of the refuse bins as a significant step towards improving public health and sanitation for his constituents.
An attendee at the event held on Azuka Road in Ogbor Hill commented, “With plenty of fanfare to go with it today, the Labour Party lawmaker, Stephen Ucheonye, commissioned refuse disposal bins as a constituency project for the people of Aba Central State Constituency.”
This initiative follows another project by a fellow Labour Party lawmaker in Abia State, Ginger Onwusibe, who recently distributed cassava stems, yam, and other seedlings to his constituents. Onwusibe represents the Isialangwa North and South constituency at the National Assembly.
