The wife of the Senate President, Mrs.

Unoma Godswill Akpabio, has filed multiple lawsuits against Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over allegations of sexual harassment leveled against her husband.

Mrs. Akpabio is seeking N250 billion in damages in a fundamental rights lawsuit and an additional N1 billion in a defamation suit at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.

Natasha Akpoti’s Allegations Against Senate President Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan recently accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of victimizing her in the Senate because she allegedly refused his advances. She claimed that Akpabio made multiple sexual overtures, even in front of her husband.

However, Unoma Akpabio has dismissed these allegations, calling them false and a ploy for personal gain. At a press conference, she warned of impending legal actions against Natasha.

Lawsuits Filed by Unoma Akpabio

Fundamental Rights Violation Suit (Suit No: CV/814/25)

In her legal action, Mrs. Akpabio claims that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s statements on the Senate floor and in media interviews violated her fundamental rights. She is demanding:

A Court Declaration that Natasha’s allegations infringe on her rights under the Nigerian Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.

An Order of Perpetual Injunction restraining Natasha from making further “scandalous and spiteful statements” that allegedly cause emotional distress to Unoma Akpabio and her children.

N250 Billion in Damages for the alleged violation of her fundamental rights.

Defamation Lawsuit (Suit No: CV/816/25)

In a separate case, Mrs. Akpabio is suing for defamation, asserting that Natasha’s claims have damaged her family's reputation. She seeks:

A Court Declaration that Natasha's statements on national television defamed her family.

A Public Retraction & Apology published in The Guardian and This Day newspapers.

N1 Billion in Damages for the alleged reputational harm.

A Perpetual Injunction preventing Natasha from making further defamatory remarks.

What’s Next?

With both lawsuits now in court, the legal battle between Unoma Akpabio and Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is set to unfold, attracting national attention. As the case develops, Nigerians will be watching closely to see how the judiciary rules on this high-profile controversy.
