The presidential office is not a retirement community for the elderly, according to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP).
In reference to Atiku Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Bola Tinubu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obi claimed that they lacked the vigor necessary to lead Nigeria.
The LP presidential candidate claimed they were too old and lacked the necessary energy to lead Nigeria in 2023 while speaking in Enugu.
“Of all the major presidential candidates, we are three." Two have come and gone from the Southeast. The first one is in his 70s if you go and look up their ages, and no one is sure of the second one's exact age.
“Aso Rock is not a retirement home. We have said it. Let people who are old look for retirement homes elsewhere.
“When I came to Enugu, I visited the Enugu campus (of UNN) and then went to the Nsukka campus before coming here." After here, I will travel to Onitsha. They can’t do it. "The presidency requires energy,” he said.
