A businessman from Onitsha, Anambra State, Ibeanusi Solomon Nosike, was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, after attempting to smuggle 68 wraps of cocaine.
The 36-year-old was apprehended on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the old domestic terminal while trying to board a flight to Abuja, where he was scheduled to connect to a Qatar Airways flight to Vietnam.
Nosike had arrived in Lagos from Onitsha the day before and checked into a hotel, where he ingested the cocaine pellets. Early the next morning, as he prepared to board a 6:30 am flight to Abuja, he was intercepted by NDLEA operatives acting on intelligence reports.
Following his arrest, Nosike was placed under excretion observation, where he spent 12 days expelling the 68 cocaine pellets, which had a total weight of 1.282 kilograms.
