It is no longer news that the country is getting prepared for the 2023 population census.
However, the National Population Commission (NPC) has outlined a comprehensive compensation package for its ad hoc staff who will be involved in the upcoming 2023 Population and Housing Census. The package includes allowances for feeding, transport, and training, as well as a main salary after the completion of the census exercise.
The Director of Census Department, Mrs. Evelyn Arinola Olanipekun, has announced that the NPC ad hoc staff will receive three types of allowances.
The first allowance is for feeding, which is divided into two categories. Specialized Workforce (SWF) will receive N2,000 per day for 13 days, which includes 3 days of SWF and 10 days of state training. However, states that did not observe the first 3 days are exempted. This means that the total feeding allowance for SWF is N26,000. State Facilitators, on the other hand, will receive N2,000 per person per day for 10 days, which means a total feeding allowance of N20,000.
The second allowance is for transport, which is a flat rate of N20,000 per person for all categories of census functionaries.
The third allowance is for training, which is also divided into two categories. Trainers will receive N15,000 per day for 13 days for SWF and 10 days for state facilitators. Trainees, on the other hand, will receive N10,000 per day for 13 days for SWF and 10 days for state facilitators.
Payment for the allowances will be made twice, as follows: Transport and feeding allowance for SWF is N46,000, while that of state facilitators is N40,000. The training allowance for the trainer for SWF is N195,000, while that of the trainee for SWF is N130,000. For state facilitators, the training allowance for the trainer is N150,000, while that of the trainee is N100,000.
