The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern warning to corps members serving across Nigeria against undertaking any journeys without proper authorization from the corps management.

This caution comes in the aftermath of a fatal accident that claimed the life of Ige Adedayo, a corps member serving in Delta State.

Adedayo tragically lost his life in a lone crash on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway at Ago Adura, Itori, on Saturday. Reports reveal that he had ventured to Ogun State without obtaining permission from the NYSC authorities in Delta, where he was posted for his primary assignment.

Confirming Adedayo's status as a serving corps member in Delta State, NYSC's Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, emphasized the importance of adhering to NYSC guidelines. He reiterated that the Director-General of NYSC has consistently emphasized the need for corps members to seek approval before embarking on any journeys outside their designated state of service.

Megwa expressed condolences to Adedayo's family, describing his untimely death as a national loss. He underscored the one-year commitment of national service entrusted to corps members, urging them to prioritize safety and refrain from unnecessary travel without proper authorization.

Adedayo's tragic demise has left a void not only in his family but also within the NYSC community. As condolences pour in from across the nation, NYSC coordinators in Ogun State have extended support to Adedayo's family during this difficult time.

Adedayo's unexpected passing serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of vigilance and adherence to safety protocols, especially among young individuals serving their country. As the NYSC mourns the loss of one of its own, the organization remains committed to supporting corps members and ensuring their well-being throughout their service year.
