A Magistrate Court in Umuahia North Magisterial District has sentenced a 40-year-old Pastor Uche Arua Kalu to 10 years imprisonment without an option of fine for defiling a 4-year-old girl in Amaogudu Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The judgment was delivered on Friday, March 7, 2025, by Onuoha U.C. after the defendant pleaded guilty to the crime.

He was charged under the Violence Against Prohibition Act 2019.

The defendant, before receiving the sentence, begged the court for leniency, claiming that he did not know what pushed him to commit the crime.

It would be recalled that the mother of the abused girl, Mrs Ugo Enyinnaya had, while appearing on an ABN TV Podcast Talk Make I Talk, narrated how Pastor Uche Arua, who works in church in Abriba, lured her daughter of four years (name withheld) to his house and allegedly had carnal knowledge of the kid.

Mrs Enyinnaya said that the incident happened on October 24, 2024.
