The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, and Minister of Finance Zainab Ahmed have been invited to a meeting on Thursday by the ad hoc committee looking into the currency swap at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Ado Doguwa, the majority leader, and Babangana Monguno, the national security adviser, were both invited to the committee.
The invitation follows a temporary ruling by the Supreme Court ordering the CBN to postpone the deadline of February 10 for the continued existence of the old notes.
As you might remember, the same committee spoke with CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, but it was unable to change the CBN's decision.
Similar to how INEC had previously stated, the policy may have an impact on how the elections are run because the commission needs money to conduct the elections. Mr. Emefiele had, nevertheless, pledged to contribute funds for the commission.
