Dangote Petroleum Refinery is currently in the process of conducting test runs for petrol production, and it is expected to be fully operational by mid-September, as reported by Reuters.

IIR Energy, an oil industry monitor, mentioned in a note that the date for full operation could be extended further.

The publication reported that IIR stated, in a note to clients, the possibility of further extensions.

Anthony Chiejina, the chief branding and communications officer of Dangote Group, has not yet responded to TheCable’s inquiry regarding the report’s claim.

On May 18, Aliko Dangote, the richest person in Africa, announced that the refinery would start producing petrol from June, and he added that Nigeria would no longer need to import the product.

The business mogul mentioned in June that due to a minor delay, the refinery would begin supplying petrol in July.

However, on July 15, Dangote refinery further postponed the start of petrol supply to August.

On August 14, reports suggested that the delivery date for petrol supply had been delayed, but Chiejina denied any further delay to petrol output.

Chiejina assured TheCable that the reports about postponement are inaccurate and confirmed that the refinery is on track to produce petrol as originally planned in August.
