There is tension in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State over the reported invasion of polling units in the area by fake policemen.
The development was confirmed Saturday morning by the Anglican Bishop of Eha-Amufu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Daniel Olinya.
The bishop told journalists that Isi-Uzo was under siege by fake security agencies.
He disclosed that in the polling unit where he is supposed to vote, the situation was not different.
“When I got to my polling unit at Umuokpara, members of a particular political party were intimidating voters who they felt were not in support of their party. When I spoke, they shouted me down.
“I asked about the presence of policemen, and a lady in bathroom slippers showed up. When I inquired about her ID card, she showed me a cap.
“This is the situation in all the polling units in Eha-Amufu; the police have refused to protect the ballot."
“We are calling on the Commissioner of Police to do something about this ugly situation,” Bishop Olinya said.
