The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has implemented a ban on the use of travel sacks commonly referred to as 'Ghana Must Go' by passengers at all airports across the nation.

This prohibition, specified for passengers traveling through the country's international airports, aims to address significant challenges faced by airlines and prevent damage to airport conveyor belt systems.

A circular issued by FAAN titled 'Re: Prohibition of Usage Of Ghana Must Go' and dated November 24, was signed by Henok Gizachew, the Manager of Airport Services. Gizachew highlighted that the ban was prompted by the considerable financial losses incurred by airlines and the detrimental impact on the conveyor belt systems at airports.

Passengers intending to use the 'Ghana Must Go' bag for travel are now required to opt for a well-packaged alternative in the form of a carton or hardcover of rectangular size. This measure is aimed at mitigating the adverse effects associated with the use of the sack, ensuring smoother operations at the airports.

The widespread adoption of the 'Ghana Must Go' sack, known for its lightweight and high load-carrying capacity, has been linked to the breakdown of conveyor belt systems in many of the country's airports. The resultant costs incurred by the airport authority have been substantial, prompting this proactive move to regulate the type of luggage permitted for travel.

As FAAN takes steps to enhance operational efficiency and reduce financial burdens on airlines and airport infrastructure, passengers are urged to adhere to the newly enforced guidelines to ensure a seamless travel experience.
