Doherty, who was the Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 General Election, has announced his resignation from the party and subsequent move to the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement reflecting on this significant change, Doherty expressed his decision as the result of extensive consultations. He conveyed his humility and recognition of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Doherty emphasized his commitment to working collectively with his new party to realize a shared vision for Lagos.


"I have resigned from the ADC and joined the PDP. With humility and an appreciation of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, I look forward to working collectively to build the Lagos of our dreams," Doherty stated.
