Four people have died in an accident that occurred on Tuesday morning along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
A speeding Mazda bus, marked YYY412XB, was said to have crashed into an unregistered moving truck.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the fatal crash occurred at about 6:25am, before the Iperu Bridge in Ogun State.
According to the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, 10 people were involved in the crash – four male adults, five female adults, and one male child.
Okpe disclosed that five women and one man were injured in the crash, which took the lives of two male adults, one female adult, and one male child.
“The suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and light sign violation."
“The Mazda bus driver who was on high speed crashed into the moving truck from behind due to a light defect on the truck; that is, the truck's rear lights made to signal vehicles from behind could not function,” Okpe stated.
She said that the injured victims had been taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, while the bodies were deposited at FOS, Ipara Morgue.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander of FRSC in Ogun, Ahmed Umar, has advised motorists to fix the necessary requirements in their vehicles before any trip, cautioning them on speed violation.
He sympathized with the families of the victims, advising them to contact the FRSC in Ogere for more information about the crash.
