In a surprising turn of events, Daniel Bwala, a prominent figure within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is alos the spokesman for the party presidential candidate in the last general election has declared his unwavering commitment to supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu, even hinting at the possibility of defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Following a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, Bwala, a known critic of the APC and Tinubu's leadership, revealed his determination to contribute to the success of the administration. "I told him today, I am committing to play my part to support your administration, and I have no apologies to anybody," Bwala conveyed to State House correspondents.

When pressed about the potential shift to the APC, Bwala emphasized his loyalty to President Tinubu, stating, "APC is a party. President Bola Tinubu is my motivation; if supporting him will take me to APC, so be it."

Interestingly, on January 2, 2024, Bwala, who had been critical of the APC and Tinubu's government, suggested that opposition parties needed to form a robust coalition to effectively challenge the APC in the 2027 general elections.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Bwala highlighted the necessity of a strong opposition coalition, stating that without it, President Tinubu could secure eight years in office. "Without a coalition of political parties, Tinubu is going to spend the next eight years. That one is for sure," he remarked.

In an unexpected twist, Bwala also commended President Tinubu's recent decision to suspend the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu. According to Bwala, this move demonstrated Tinubu's commitment to upholding the rule of law and holding officials accountable for any alleged infractions. "That, to me, is impressive because it’s about the people," Bwala remarked, acknowledging the President's stance on governance. The political landscape appears to be evolving, and Bwala's unexpected support adds a new dimension to the dynamics within Nigerian politics.
