Kano Shari’a Court sitting in Kwana Hudu on Friday sentenced Opay agent Rabi’u Isah Gaida to nine months imprisonment.

He was arraigned before the Shari’a court for breach of trust, cheating, and theft of N300,000 belonging to one Zubairu Murtala via online bank transfer.

The prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin, told the court that the victim (Zubairu) complained that the defendant stole his N300,000 through an online transfer without his consent when he gave him his phone to open an Opay wallet account for him.

The defendant pleaded guilty after the charges were read to him, saying he used the money to stake a bet with BetNaija.

The presiding judge, Nura Yusuf Ahmad, sentenced him to three months for breach of trust and six months for stealing and ordered him to refund the stolen amount of N300,000.
