The monument was beautiful and a lot of people went there to take pictures, especially at night. It became an attraction in the city.

However, the new administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf demolished the monument. The governor said that the monument caused traffic jams and was a security risk. Another official claimed that it was demolished because it had a cross on it.

Some people claimed that these were just excuses and they pointed out that the new government had been demolishing a lot of structures that were built by the old government, including hotels and shops. They also said that there was no love lost between former governor Ganduje and Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the godfather of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The new administration has now constructed a fountain on the site of the demolished monument.
