In a bid to alleviate the economic burden faced by residents during the holy month of Ramadan, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State commenced the distribution of over N12 billion worth of assorted grains as palliatives.

The initiative aims to provide much-needed support to individuals and households across the state.

Under the Ramadan palliatives scheme, a total of 9,900 bags of rice and 9,500 bags of grains will be allocated to teachers, while 4,000 bags of rice and 3,400 bags of grains will be distributed to various ministries, departments, and agencies of the state government. Additionally, 1,000 bags of rice and 1,000 bags of grains have been earmarked for Islamic scholars and other beneficiaries.

Governor Idris emphasized that the distribution of Ramadan palliatives is fully funded by the state government, demonstrating its commitment to addressing the welfare needs of its citizens. Furthermore, he assured residents that additional palliatives are expected from the Federal Government to complement the state's efforts.

Speaking during the launch of the distribution exercise in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris reiterated his administration's zero-tolerance policy towards any form of malpractice or corruption in the distribution process. He warned that stringent measures would be taken against any government official found tampering with the equitable distribution of the palliatives.

Highlighting the importance of responsible leadership, Governor Idris underscored his government's dedication to ensuring the welfare of workers and teachers in the state. He emphasized that prompt payment of salaries, gratuities, and benefits remains a top priority, reflecting the government's commitment to upholding the rights and interests of its workforce.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his unwavering support for workers and teachers, recognizing their pivotal role in driving progress and development in Kebbi State. By prioritizing their welfare and well-being, the government aims to foster a conducive environment for sustainable growth and prosperity across the state.
