Gabriel Iliya Magaji, a 38-year-old resident of Masaka in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has tragically taken his life following suspicions of his wife’s infidelity.
His body was discovered hanging in a classroom at Crystal School, Masaka.
The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Nansel Ramhan. He explained that the police received a report about the tragic discovery on Monday morning. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team rushed to the scene, where they untied the body and transported it to the General Hospital in Mararaba, where doctors confirmed Magaji’s death.
Although no suicide note was found at the scene, ongoing investigations aim to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding his death. However, reports circulating suggest that Magaji took his own life after confronting his wife about her alleged affairs with his friends, who, in exchange, gave her money to support the household.
According to a note attributed to an individual familiar with the situation, the wife allegedly admitted to sleeping with Magaji’s friends because he could not provide for the family. The money she received from these encounters was used to buy food, which Magaji and their three children also consumed.
