Tragedy struck Ometan community in Delta State as an oil tanker inferno claimed the lives of at least eight individuals.

The devastating incident occurred when the tanker, reportedly from Effurun, lost control while overtaking another truck near the boundary bridge between Uvwie and Okpe Local Government Area.

Witnesses recounted the horrifying moment when the tanker's front part detached, triggering a massive explosion that engulfed nearby buildings. Tragically, some residents trapped in the inferno lost their lives as the fire raged on, leaving destruction in its wake.

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside dignitaries including Speaker Emomotimi Guwor, visited the scene to offer condolences to the bereaved families and the Ometan community. Governor Oborevwori expressed profound sadness over the incident, emphasizing the need for support and solidarity during this trying time.

This heartbreaking event comes in the wake of another tragic gas tanker explosion in Rivers State, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and vigilance on our roads. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families and communities as they navigate through this challenging period.
