Ex Super Eagle midfielder, John Obi Mikel has bagged a political appointment as the Plateau State governor, Caleb Muftwang, appointed Mikel and rapper Jude Abaga also known as MI as honorary advisers.
Obi was appointed as Honorary Adviser on Sports while MI is the new Honorary Adviser on Entertainment and Creativity.
Muftwang in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Gyang Bere said the appointments are parts of his administration’s plan to erect the bedrock of excellence for Plateau state.
Mikel who grew up in Jos, the Plateau state capital, made a mark in football during his heydays as he won a plethora of laurels with Nigeria and Chelsea.
The former Nigeria Super Eagles captain, who is a cult hero for many football lovers, scored only one goal and contributed ten assists in the English Premier League in 249 appearances for Chelsea and left the club in January 2017
