Sullivan Chimesadministration in Enugu state, neglected thepeople of Aninri Local Government Area for eightyears.Speaking on Saturday in Aninri during the flag-offof nine rural projects funded by the stategovernment, Ekweremadu said that the Chimestenure was the darkest in the lives of Aninripeople. He said that during the period, the stategovernment had no presence in the entirecouncil, adding that projects executed in the areawere by the federal and local governments.Eight years ago all development projects in thisarea were done by the federal and localgovernments, but we now have a governor thatis ready to work for our people.Between 2007 and 2015, no indigene of Aninriwas employed in the state civil service and fromstatistics, we have the least number of civilservants in the state, he said. The deputy senate president said that the localgovernment area had only 400 workers in thestate service, adding that no permanentsecretary was from the area.This neglect of our people for eight years wasthat bad but God has raised someone who willraise us.For instance, at the Institute of Managementand Technology (IMT), we only have four staffmembers from Aninri while Udi, Awgu and OjiRiver Local Government Areas have 360, 85 and60 staff, respectively, in the institution, he said.Ekweremadu said that it was the governor of thestate, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who drew hisattention to the anomalies, and said that thegovernor had taken steps to redress the ills.The governor has appointed our son aspermanent secretary and another one as directorof works in IMT. The state commissioner ofworks is also from Aninri and more are coming,he said.According to him, it is gratifying that our peopleare now feeling the impact of the stategovernment and we will continue to support thegovernor.Ekweremadu appealed to the people of the areato unite and move the place forward, adding thatgreater things were ahead.
