The initiative spearheaded by the Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Environment, Farouq Akintunde, a task force took decisive action to address the issue of shanties and illegal structures that marred the corridor.

According to the task force, these structures not only disfigured the landscape but also served as potential hideouts for criminals.

Mr. Akintunde, at the forefront of the operation, emphasized the significance of the endeavor in positioning Ogun State as the industrial hub of Nigeria. He asserted, "Ogun State has a role to play in the economic advancement of the nation. No serious investor will come here and partner with us with all these kinds of shanties and garbage."

The operation revealed a distressing scene along the corridor, with faeces, dirt, and debris strewn across the road median and under the Kara Bridge. Despite mild opposition from some protesters armed with sticks, the presence of a robust security contingent comprising policemen and operatives of the Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps effectively prevented any breakdown of law and order during the demolition exercise.

This strategic move not only aims to rid the area of unsightly structures but also underscores the commitment to creating an environment conducive to economic development. As Ogun State strives to attract serious investors and solidify its position as a key player in Nigeria's economic landscape, such initiatives become crucial steps in the journey towards sustained growth and prosperity.
