In a tragic incident along the Owode-Idiroko Road in Ogun State, the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) reported a fatal accident involving a Mercedes-Benz truck and a Bajaj motorcycle at the Alagbon-Olorunda bridge.

According to Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, the South-West Area Commander of TRACE, the accident occurred on Friday at approximately 4:15 p.m. and resulted in one fatality and another person sustaining injuries. The Mercedes-Benz truck, lacking a registration number, was identified as the cause of the accident due to excessive speeding.

The collision involved four individuals, with one person tragically losing their life and another sustaining injuries, while the remaining individuals emerged unharmed. The truck, unable to maintain control at high speed, collided with a commercial motorcyclist before plunging into the river.

Ajibade highlighted that the injured individual had been promptly taken to the hospital before their arrival, and the deceased had been claimed by relatives for burial rites.

Issuing a cautionary message, Ajibade urged both motorists and motorcycle riders to exercise caution, emphasizing the importance of avoiding reckless driving and excessive speeding, especially during the Yuletide season, to mitigate or prevent accidents. This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the need for heightened vigilance on the roads to ensure the safety of all road users.
