Following the recent fire incident in the commercial city of Onitsha, so many individuals and groups have been visiting and compensating the affected persons.

Remember some days ago, a fuel tanker fell in the upper iweka area of Onitsha and exploded while the fire traveled to the popular ochanja market and so many lives were lost and goods worth millions of naira destroyed. So many people are identifying with the affected persons with donations and other supports. The recent one is the visit by the former governor of Anambra state and PDP vice presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi and some other dignitaries. Obi sympathized with the affected persons and encouraged them to believe in God and that they will surely rise again. He further donated the sum of 2 million naira to be used for the treatment of the affected persons.

Its indeed another tragedy in Anambra state and also in the same commercial city of Onitsha as there was yet another fire outbreak in the early hours of today in the same area just two days after there was a terrible fire incident.

This one happened in the omagba phase 2 area by our line new parts dealers market. It was reported that it started in the wee hours of the night when most residents were fast asleep.

According to an eye witness a tanker fell along Bessy filling station along the omagba phase 2 area and fire erupted but the fire service department of Anambra state this time gave a quick response and were able to put out the fire early enough and it is believed that the damage this time around was minimal than the former one.

Its indeed a black Wednesday in Anambra state as there was a great fire outbreak in the commercial city of Onitsha.

A truck conveying premium motor spirit PMS, rammed into the fence of Toronto hospital at upper iweka side of Onitsha and exploded. The fire initially started at the spot and within seconds traveled down to the famous ochanja market and destroyed so many shops stucked with goods and also burnt some yet to be identified people to death.

But the eye witnesses believed that there was a poor response from the men of the fire service commission in the state as they were no where to be found within the period of the fire incident. It was also reported that it was the neighboring Delta state fire service commission that later came to the rescue of the victims in the late hours of the day.

We are yet to get an official report from the Anambra state government concerning the incident.

Earlier today, there was a fire outbreak at the Treasury House, which is the headquarters of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

Though,the cause of the fire, which started about 10 am, is yet to be known.However, eyewitnesses say that as soon as the incident started, men of the Federal Fire Service were alerted to assist in putting out the fire.

They were later joined by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, the Nigeria Police Force and the Abuja Environmental Protection Board.
